Monica, you work in some of the most luxurious and dynamic industries, including modelling, acting, and being a master of ceremonies. What has been the most unexpected challenge in your career?
I’ve been fortunate to work with highly professional teams and individuals, and when everything is well-organised, unexpected challenges are rare. That said, working in freelance and fast-paced industries requires a great deal of flexibility—last-minute changes are simply part of the job. Thankfully, I’ve never experienced a power outage while on stage, but if it ever happens (which I hope it won’t!), improvisation is key.
One of the most important aspects of my role is maintaining confidence and composure, especially since clients are often more stressed than I am before an event. I believe that projecting calmness and control reassures everyone around me. Interestingly, I recently learned that the fear of public speaking is second only to the fear of death. While I may have been a little shy as a child, experience has built my confidence, and now, speaking in front of people is something I truly love. Whether I’m delivering a message, entertaining an audience, or setting the atmosphere, my goal is always to leave people with a great feeling.
And of course, a big smile goes a long way—it’s one of my best tools on stage!

Living in Dubai is a dream for many. What makes this city so special to you personally?
I truly believe that to understand a place and see if it truly resonates with you, you need to live there for at least three months. If you’re like me, everything feels perfect on holiday, but living somewhere, building relationships, experiencing the culture, working, and eventually thriving is a completely different experience.
I’ve lived in Milan, London, and Paris, and even spent time in Los Angeles for an acting masterclass. While each of these cities is unique and beautiful in its own way, none have captured my heart quite like Dubai. Beyond its breathtaking skyline, innovation, safety, impeccable service, and spotless streets, what makes Dubai truly special is its inclusivity. This city welcomes people from all nationalities and, more importantly, makes life easy. I believe this stems from the generosity of the Emirati people and the visionary leadership of their rulers.
Living here, you can feel the drive for excellence, but it’s paired with a kindness and decency that are rare in major cities. While my home country will always have my heart, I’m truly grateful to call Dubai my second home.

What moments at events make your job truly magical? And what is the most extravagant dress code you have ever seen?
First and foremost, I love people. That’s where it all begins. When you genuinely enjoy connecting with others, every moment at an event can feel magical. Behind the scenes, an incredible amount of effort goes into creating perfect experiences, but for me, what matters most are the relationships built, the messages delivered, and the emotions that touch people’s hearts. That’s what I take home with me, and that’s what keeps me inspired. Oh, and I have to mention—fireworks! I absolutely love fireworks!
As for the most extravagant dress code I’ve seen, one thing I truly appreciate about this part of the world is its refined sense of elegance. I’ve witnessed breathtaking gowns adorned with exquisite jewellery from the world’s most prestigious brands, yet always with an air of sophistication and grace. In contrast, I find that some of the recent trends at Hollywood award shows have become a bit too over-the-top for my taste. While I respect everyone’s right to self-expression, I personally prefer the timeless elegance that defines fashion here.

You speak five languages—that’s a unique advantage. If you could organise a grand dream event, what would it be like?
My grand dream event would actually require me to speak all the languages of the world! If I were to organise the most impactful and long-lasting event—without any limits—I would bring together all the world’s leaders, along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren, and host them on a breathtaking private island. The event wouldn’t end until they and their descendants became true friends, securing world peace and understanding for generations to come.
I know it sounds utopian, but at the same time, it’s heartbreaking that we live on such a magnificent planet—one that gives us everything we need for beautiful and happy lives—yet there is still so much suffering and conflict. I don’t have children yet, though maybe one day I will, but I feel that all the children of the world are, in a way, my own. They all deserve a safe and better future.
So if I had to organise the ultimate event, it would be this: a gathering to change the course of history. And to end on a note that says it best, I’ll quote John Lennon:
“You may say I’m a dreamer,
But I’m not the only one,
I hope someday you’ll join us,
And the world will be as one.”

Many fans remember your heartfelt singing on Romanian X Factor. It was truly touching. When can we expect your first official music release?
Music is my first and greatest love. Even though I haven’t pursued it as a profession, it’s with me every single day—it fuels my passion for life. Music has this incredible way of touching our souls. You know that feeling when you’re heartbroken, and suddenly every song on the radio seems to be about you? Or when you’re so happy that even the saddest song feels beautiful? That’s the magic of music—it connects to every emotion we carry.
To answer your question, in my industry, we have two major breaks each year—one in summer and another during Ramadan. This Ramadan, I’ll be heading back home to Bucharest, where I plan to sit at my piano, pour my heart into music, and see where it takes me. Maybe something will come out of it—maybe even an album of my own, composed by me, that others can connect with too.
I didn’t feel ready to do this when I was 20, but who knows? Maybe now is finally the time.
