Tuba Sahinova — The Art of Quiet Elegance

Between cultures, continents, and chapters of life, Tuba Sahinova has cultivated a deeply personal vision of beauty rooted in calm, balance, and emotional atmosphere. As a mother, traveller, and creator, she transforms lived experience into an aesthetic language that speaks softly yet profoundly.

Tuba, your journey blends personal experience, travel, motherhood, and creativity into a very distinctive aesthetic. Can you share how the different chapters of your life have shaped the way you see beauty, home, and design today?

My journey has never been linear. It has been shaped by places, transitions, and inner growth. Living between different cultures and travelling extensively taught me early on that true beauty is quiet. It lives in balance, in harmony, in atmosphere and in the feeling a space creates.

A defining chapter of my life began with the birth of my son Leo in Miami. It was there that I truly understood what home means on a deeper level — not as an address, but as a feeling of safety, warmth, calm, and love. House of Hamptons was born from this realisation, on my son’s first birthday, which we celebrated in the Hamptons on Long Island. The light, the openness, the connection to nature, and the effortless elegance of that place deeply moved me.

To me, the Hamptons represent a timeless aesthetic: relaxed, refined, warm, and understated. I wanted to preserve that soul and carry it forward. Today, we live between the United States and Dubai — two places with very different energies. Dubai is fast-paced and trend-driven, while my work consciously moves in the opposite direction. I focus on creating calm where there is noise and timelessness where there is constant change.

My cushions are therefore not trend pieces. They are emotional objects. They connect the relaxed elegance of the American East Coast with the warmth and sensuality of the Arabian Gulf. They are meant to ground a space, add depth, and create a sense of home — wherever in the world you are. Every chapter of my life — motherhood, travel, personal evolution, and cultural diversity — has shaped the way I see beauty today. I now understand that true beauty emerges where authenticity, calm, and soul meet. That is the essence of House of Hamptons.

Many creatives speak about inspiration, but for you it seems deeply emotional and personal. How do memories, feelings, and meaningful life moments transform into tangible ideas and projects?

My inspiration comes from coastal landscapes, vintage interiors, and quiet everyday moments. I observe light, colour, materials, and texture. Linen, washed cotton, and natural fabrics especially draw me in. From this, cushions emerge that feel soft, calm, and effortless within a space.

I am not guided by trends but by atmosphere. My goal is to create timeless pieces that express a sense of permanence. This is the character of House of Hamptons.

You often connect the idea of “home” not just to a place, but to a feeling. What does home mean to you now, and how has that definition evolved over time?

In the past, home was mainly a place to me — an address, a point on a map. Today, home means something entirely different. It is a feeling of calm, safety, and emotional grounding. A space where you don’t need to perform — you simply get to be.

With the birth of my son Leo, this definition shifted profoundly. He showed me that home is created through trust, consistency, and a quiet, steady presence of love. Home, for me, is now a consciously created environment — clear, warm, and enduring. A space that offers stability while allowing lightness to exist.

This philosophy shapes everything I create. I don’t design objects or rooms; I design living spaces. Places that support. Places that slow life down. Places where people — and families — can truly arrive.

There is a sense of elegance and warmth in everything you create. How do you balance refinement with comfort, and what details are most important to you when expressing this harmony?

Elegance and warmth are not opposites to me — they belong together. True elegance does not come from excess or perfection, but from restraint, clarity, and consciously chosen materials. Warmth comes from texture, softness, and pieces you naturally want to touch and live with.

I always begin by asking: does this space feel good? Only after that do I think about aesthetics. With my cushions, this means high-quality fabrics, a pleasant tactile experience, calm tones, and timeless patterns. Nothing loud, nothing short-lived. They are meant to quiet a space, not dominate it.

The most important element for me is balance — between structure and softness, form and comfort. If a room looks elegant but does not invite you to relax, something is missing. And if it is only comfortable but lacks soul, something is missing as well. My work exists precisely in that space in between, where beauty is quiet and comfort feels effortless.

Looking at your path as a woman, a mother, and a creator, what has been the most transformative realisation about yourself, and how does it influence the way you approach new ideas and dreams?

The greatest transformation in my life began with the birth of my son Leo. Motherhood is the highest transformation a human being can experience. He changed my perspective on everything — quietly, deeply, and permanently.

Through Leo, I understood that true strength lies in presence, clarity, and conscious responsibility. I now think in time horizons rather than moments — in building rather than urgency. I make decisions with the awareness that I am not only shaping a life, but building trust every day: trust in the world, trust in stability, trust in beauty, calm, and reliability.

As a woman and as a creator, I work from inner clarity, from a deep understanding of identity, quality, and direction. My work reflects this mindset: calm, intentional, and created with longevity in mind. Leo reminds me daily that the most valuable thing we can pass on is a feeling of safety, permanence, and inner order. From this awareness, my ideas, my designs, and my future take shape.
